Ryan was hired after his successful stint as Defensive Coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens 2005-2008. Ryan also served as the Ravens assistant Head Coach in the 2008 season, the same year they advanced to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
