Episode 103 - Greatest MLB Division Series

Join us on HIT THE MARK! as we look at the greatest Division Series in Major League Baseball history. HIT THE MARK! goes all the way back to the 1981 strike when MLB had their first "unofficial" division series, thanks to a MLB strike which split the season in half and produced a first and second half winner playing in a best-of-five playoff series to determine the division winner. Officially, MLB started the Division Series in 1995, and from there the unique best-of-five format has produced some wonderful series and memories. Join us as we continue our look into New York Jets history. In Part 10 we analyze the successful Rex Ryan era. Ryan was hired after his successful stint as Defensive Coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens 2005-2008. Ryan also served as the Ravens assistant Head Coach in the 2008 season, the same year they advanced to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ryan's tenure was one of the most successful in team history. Joining us again to help break down the Ryan era is Chris "the Bear" Fallica of ESPN College Gameday.

Groh was the result of a change in ownership that resulted in his only season as the head coach of the green & white before vaulting for college. Al Groh's departure led to Herm Edwards being named head coach. This podcast educates you on the basics of both tenures.

We continue our look into the history of the NY Jets with Part 6, which covers 1994-96 seasons that were coached by Pete Carroll and Rich Kotite. After staring 6-5 under Carroll in 1994, the Jets totally collapsed, losing 33 of their next 37 games and setting the stage for major changes.

After finishing 4-12 in 1989, the Jets fired Head Coach Joe Walton and brought in offensive guru and Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Bruce Coslet. Coslet had a big part in the Bengals rise to prominence with Boomer Esiason at QB running the "attack" offense. Join us as we discuss the Bruce Coslet era in Jets history.  Joining us in this discussion is Chris "The Bear" Fallica.
